Ron Arad
Ron Arad (b. 1951) is a London-based designer, sculptor, and architect known for merging industrial experimentation with sculptural form. Trained at the Architectural Association, he rose to prominence in the early 1980s with welded-steel pieces such as the Rover Chair (1981) and Concrete Stereo (1983), which embodied a raw, postmodern energy. Later collaborations with Kartell, Vitra, and Moroso brought his bold, curved constructions to industrial production. Working in steel, aluminum, and polycarbonate, Arad explores form, elasticity, and material tension through digital and handcrafted methods. His work is represented in MoMA, the Centre Pompidou, the Design Museum London, and the V&A.
