Created by British designer Faye Toogood (b. 1977) for her Assemblage 7 collection, Barrow (2021) is a sculptural, limited-edition stool and side table. The monolithic piece is meticulously hand-carved from solid English oak and finished using a traditional 18th-century shellacking technique. Toogood’s subtractive carving process evokes a sense of archaeological excavation, stripping back the timber to reveal prehistoric, hidden geometries inspired by ancient British burial mounds.
