The Germinal Seat comes from the same series as the Germinal Bench and was presented in Andrea Branzi’s final solo exhibition, “Contemporary DNA” in New York in 2023. The chair combines a tall back of hand painted bamboo with a painted aluminum frame and legs. Branzi saw the painted bamboo as “part of a history, as if they were born from historical territories,” and the contrast between the back and the metal structure marks the link between craft and industrial production that runs through his work. Each seat in the series of 12 is painted individually, so no two are the same.
