Pile is a side table by Faye Toogood from 2022, carved by hand from solid English oak. Separate blocks of wood fit together to form one compact mass, like stones stacked on top of each other. The whole surface is covered in even gouge marks, which leave the process of carving visible and give the oak a textured, almost woven finish. Like Mound II and Barrow, it takes its name from the land, turning a simple, elemental shape into a collectible object.
